How We Track Data and Signals
This explains how Signalforest collects and logs your tracking data while you play. Read through it to see what we're recording during gameplay, how we use the telemetry we get, and what happens to that information. Tracking files don't usually have your personal details in them, but if you've given us some, we might connect it to what's in those files. Check our Privacy Policy if you want the full breakdown on how we store, use, and keep your data safe. We don't put sensitive stuff like addresses, login info, or payment data into the tracking system.
Definitions & Scope
Terms that start with a capital letter are defined below. They mean the same thing whether we use them singular or plural.
Key Terms
Here's what we mean by the main terms in this policy: • Signalforest (called "the Game", "We", "Us" or "Our" throughout) is our software and everything that goes with it. • Tracking Data is the small files saved to your device that record what you did in the game, which signals you found, and how you moved around. • Platform is the game service you access through itch.io or Steam. • You means whoever is playing the game, or if it's for a company or organization, whoever's using it on their behalf.
Data Storage Methods
Tracking data comes in two types. Session data disappears when you quit the game. Persistent data stays on your device so your progress carries over between sessions. We use both kinds for these reasons: • Essential Gameplay Data Type: Session Tracking Who handles it: Us What it does: Keeps the core game working, logs you in, and blocks cheaters. The game doesn't function without this. We only use it for that. • Player Progress Tracking Type: Persistent Tracking Who handles it: Us What it does: Saves your discoveries, which signals you've tuned into, and your preferences so you don't start over next time. You keep your map knowledge and tuning history.
Managing Your Data & Preferences
Want to reduce what we collect? You can turn off tracking in the game settings and remove the files from your device. You can change this whenever. Turning off data storage will break progress saving and some features won't work right. To remove or disable tracking, check your device settings: • Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows • macOS: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201608 • Linux: https://www.linux.org/docs • Steam: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs Your device maker's support page has the specific steps.
